Unit Enhances Imaging Capabilities and Delivers Improved Patient Care
Everett, MA...Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) unveiled a new MRI unit this month at its Whidden Hospital campus in Everett. The state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla scanner dramatically enhances the patient experience, providing fast tests, improved comfort, and excellent image quality.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a magnetic field to create an image of different parts of the body, which radiologists use to identify and diagnose many conditions. The new MRI unit, located in the Radiology Suite at the Whidden campus, features an open design with interior lighting so that patients will not feel enclosed during their scans.
"In choosing this model, we looked closely at both technology and patient comfort," said Carol Hulka, MD, CHA's Chief of Radiology. "This new unit has all the technical capabilities we need as well as a comfortable scanning environment."
The addition of the MRI machine enhances the diagnostic and imaging capabilities at the Whidden campus, which also recently installed a new 64-slice CT scanner and bone densitometer. These improvements coincide with news that CHA's Department of Radiology has earned National Accreditation by the American College of Radiology in CT (computed tomography). CHA's Ultrasound and Mammography departments have already been recognized with this prestigious accreditation.
