CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a vital and innovative community health system that serves Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s metro-north communities, has named Jill Batty as its chief financial officer. Ms. Batty, who will join CHA on January 6, 2014, brings more than 20 years of experience as a strategist, financial operations executive, and health care consultant working with a wide variety of providers, primarily acute care hospitals and physician group practices.
Since 2004, Ms. Batty has served as the senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene (CMC/DHK) in Keene, N.H. CMC/DHK provides primary and specialty health care services to the greater Monadnock region for both inpatients and outpatients. Like CHA, the organization is a regional safety net provider and an integrated health system with a coordinated approach to delivering high quality health care services responsive to the needs of patients, families, and the communities it serves.
At CMC/DHK, Ms. Batty was instrumental in developing processes, strategies, and systems that enabled the health system to transition from fee-for-service care to population health management, effectively adapt to state and federal reimbursement shifts, and generate significant operating margin improvements.
“Jill’s dedication to increasing access to and value in health care mirrors our mission and makes her an ideal fit for our leadership team,” said CHA Chief Executive Officer Patrick Wardell. “Her focus on continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making will be invaluable as we implement performance improvement initiatives that will improve our revenues, reduce costs, and enhance our operations.”
Ms. Batty’s mission-driven values extend beyond the workplace, as she serves as a volunteer for several organizations including Monadnock Family Services, workforce housing coalition Heading for Home, New Hampshire Voices for Health, and Monadnock Waldorf School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in hospital and health administration from the University of Iowa. She has been a certified public accountant since 1989 and is a fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Ms. Batty succeeds Bob DeVey, a partner with Tatum LLC, who has served in an interim role following the retirement of former Chief Financial Officer Gordon Boudrow earlier this year.
