Cambridge, Mass. — Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) nurse Jennifer Wallace, RN, has been named the EMS Nurse of the Year by the Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council. The award, which honors a nurse who has contributed in a significant way to the development of EMS skills, efforts, and education within the greater Boston region, was recently presented at the twelfth annual EMS awards ceremony at American Legion Post 440 in Newton, Mass.
Wallace, who started at CHA in 1994, served as a nurse in its psychiatric emergency service for 15 years before joining the staff at CHA’s Cambridge Hospital emergency department in 2011. In addition to her daily duties, Wallace actively engages and educates EMS providers and serves as an exceptional resource for paramedic students performing clinical rotations at the Cambridge Hospital campus. She also sits on the academic advisory committee of the Pro EMS Center for MEDICS Paramedic Program.
“Jennifer is an outstanding nurse whose compassion, kindness, and positivity are unmatched,” said Assaad Sayah, MD, CHA’s Chief of Emergency Medicine. “She recognizes the importance of the EMS provider’s role and works tirelessly to ensure that every single patient is treated like a member of her own family. We congratulate her on this honor.”
The Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council coordinates the delivery of emergency medical services to more than two million residents living in EMS Region IV. The 61 communities in the Region IV area are served by 70 licensed ambulance services and 25 acute care hospitals. The council also promotes public and professional education, encourages research, and promotes inter-agency coordination and collaboration.
