How to Apply

Linda Fowler and Betty Knudsen are here to help YOU!

Im Residency - Linda FowlerIM Residency - Betty Knudsen

Every year, seven Transitional Interns are chosen for the Transitional Year Residency program
based on the applicant's commitment to the practice of medicine, their interests and life experiences, the strengths of their academic records, and their ability to work collaboratively.

They have been drawn traditionally from highly regarded medical schools in the U.S. We actively recruit minority applicants. House officers hold appointments as "Clinical Fellows in Medicine" at Harvard Medical School. They have access to the Countway Medical and other libraries, and to all University athletic facilities, housing services and other standard amenities.

Applications are accepted only through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Your application must include USMLE scores, dean's letter, transcript, and 3 Letters of recommendation, one of which is from a U.S. hospital where you have completed your Medicine Clerkship/Subinternship.

Interviews are by invitation only. The interview day begins with an introductory group session, followed by individual interviews, informal meetings with current residents and tours of the hospital. Interviewees are invited to visit the hospital any time to meet house and attending staff, to attend inpatient work and visit rounds, primary care or specialty conferences, and to observe an ambulatory care site. Individual arrangements can be made with Ms. Linda Fowler, the Residency Program Coordinator. We are strongly committed to affirmative action, and welcome applications from U.S. trained minority medical students. Minority faculty and house officers would be pleased to meet with students considering our program to discuss the quality of training as well as day-to-day life in our community.
