Curriculum

We aim to provide our residents with the best academic, community-based primary care Internal Medicine residency training in the United States.

The curriculum links on this site describe how we intend to accomplish that goal during residency training, the most intense and important three year period of professional development. These links describe how our residents progress from internship to senior resident and emerge well-equipped for the next stage of their career.

Our current residency program is the result of the dedicated efforts of dozens of faculty and residents who have assumed responsibility for designing, implementing and continuously improving our ambitious training program. We are confident that our three-year program will provide you with the learning opportunities you need to develop competence, confidence and satisfaction in the practice of primary care internal medicine. Ultimately the education you acquire at CHA is a function of your engagement with the curriculum. We are eager to help you succeed.

Ambulatory Medicine immersions include 4 continuity clinic sessions each week, block experiences in medical subspecialties and Ambulatory Teaching Resident, and longitudinal experiences in geriatrics, mental health, addictions medicine, and research-based health advocacy.

Night rotations are split equally between inpatient medicine and critical care medicine.

 *PGY3 rotation consisting of 1 week of nights, 2 weeks of inpatient/critical care/emergency medicine, and 1 week of independent reading.
